In the behind the scenes clip you will see that they did a few different setups. The final is by far the best, but I also liked the one of Connery cleaned up standing on the dock with the boat rushing away in the water. That image could have had had a lot of mystery to it, however it may have detracted from the bag. The final photograph has so much character to it, it is easy to see why it was selected.

So here is the final images used in the campaign:

And here is the behind the scenes from the shoot with Connery:

Another quick note, it appears that Annie is using SL-5000 OP54 Softlighter System Umbrella again for this ad, but I am not entirely sure on the size.

Annie Leibovitz and Keith Richards Bryan Babich

Not to disappoint anyone, but my favorite photographer is by far Annie Leibovitz. My favorite images of hers are not necessarily her covers as they are created/tailored to sell magazines. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the covers, but the images I most enjoy are the portraits found inside of magazines such as Vanity Fair or spreads in Vogue. Her shots are absolutely astounding and I could look at each one for hours; to me her photographs are perfection. Leibovitz’s photographs show what happens when the perfect subject, a significant budget and sheer talent collide. I have seen a lot of the Louis Vuitton ads in various magazines and have enjoyed each one that she has shot. My favorite being Sean Connery’s of course. I know these ads are designed to sell a product, but they have a lot of depth which I believe stems from her unique bedside manner. The following clip is something I have watched a dozen times. What facinates me about this video and videos like it is seldom you get to see someone of Annie’s caliber at work. In this clip you get to see her working with someone who she has worked with many times over the years since her days as a young photographer at Rolling Stone and I can’t help but be amazed how functional Keith Richards is (yeah I know, I went there). Just one last quick note about equipment in this shot: Annie is using a SL-5000 OP54 Softlighter System Umbrella which is relatively inexpensive, but from what I can tell she uses frequently on other shoots where I have seen some behind the scenes shots. Here is the final image:

Annie Leibovitz and Keith Richards Bryan Babich -
