I cannot say it enough, I love shooting at the Icehouse in downtown Phoenix. This cultural center is in my book one of the premiere shooting locations in the area if you are a fan of an industrial aesthetic. This massive space offers so many options that you can easily become overwhelmed by the different opportunities to capture images. Primarily the Icehouse is a venue which offers installation showings throughout the year
Tarah McDaniel and I have worked together many times over the years and here are the images from one of my favorite shoots. The first few shots in the black American Apparel bathing suit were Lady Gaga inspired. The shots of Tarah in this are incredible and she did some really creative posing in these shots. Following the Gaga set, we played around with cute stripped dress which was a lot of fun. Lastly, here are the
Phoenix Landmarks started out as a series of images I created in conjunction with a client I was working with. When finished, these images were cropped to a beautiful four foot by four foot print on acrylic and hung in the conference rooms in their buildings. In the past the client had only black and white images and when approaching the look and feel of this project the client wanted a stark contrast of their previous proje
I still look at these images and remember how much fun I had collaborating with LuxBot Lächeln on this shoot. Working with LuxBot is a ton of fun and she is such a chameleon going from a dark queen character in one set to a portrait in another. When she arrived to do the work on the dark queen set LuxBot had this super cool pink hair that she added strands of black into the hair as she pulled it up to put the crown over it.
The Fantastically Fierce Lana Shawn was the best and only way I could title this; I have worked on a few projects with Lana over the year and this set has some of my personal favorite images. A few in this set are some of my personal favorite images that I have taken over the years from the rolling of the eyes which was in between shots and I happened to capture it at the right moment, to the shot with Lana against the tree t
This is a shoot I pulled together with Rachel Blank where we did some in studio work and work outdoors. The outdoor images were taken on land near our old home in north Phoenix; the area was a bit expansive and had a lot of pieces that we could work off of. One of the things that actually made me want to work with Rachel was the tattoo on her chest, which sounds weird, but it is very bright, very colorful and has fantastic m
I did mention in my last throwback Thursday that I did two images that directly derive from Joel Grimes? The brick block background was taken and added to the image using Grimes’s technique. The background came from an urban exploration that a friend and I did of downtown Phoenix. We were wondering around and suddenly we saw this incredible rusted metal back to a large building. I later discovered that it belonged to
I love images that bring out the personal character of the subject; these have also become some of my personal favorite collaborations. Susi Rae is a model that has a diverse look that ranges from commercial to high fashion, so when we started to plan out our shoot I wanted to make sure we captured a wide range of looks, for me the range would be character portraiture and high fashion. If you look at Susi’s incredible
