Anna Prosser is a former Miss Oregon and eSports professional and she also happens to be a total geek. You can find Anna both cheering on the Evil Geniuses eSports teams throughout the country, and you may even catch her playing a game of Starcraft or two. No matter which way you cut it, her geek credentials are totally legit and sadly I think she may have me beat in a few areas… but I will not be turning in my geek membership card yet!
In Nerdy Couture I gave a little sneak preview just for Halloween of Anna dressed as Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider video game. Now onto the rest of the shoot…
We started off with Star Wars! Why not? Hopefully we will do a true Star Wars themed shoot in the future, but luckily this geek had a lightsaber on hand and Anna thought it would be fun to add a saber to the dress and boots she was already wearing.
This is the life of an eSports professional. Mid shoot break to play a game on the DS. Actually over the next few sets I focused on Anna’s interest in eSports. Like with Abbe, I was trying to create shots that reflect the subjects own brand while combining it with my own style.
Here we went for a fashion look. This gown was really incredible and I love the contrast between the soft flowy material, even on the ground, and the boots.
We took quite a few different setups with the peripherals where we played with a lot of different ideas. Playing with suspension was a ton of fun and for me looking at the photo it still takes a second to determine if Anna is head is on the ground or against the wall and having the mouse appearing to be flat on a non-existant table was just a cool idea to me.
Again, I really like the idea of suspension and the hair in this shot is really cool. I have to give extra thanks to Abbe for styling the hair while it was on the ground.
This pinup image quickly became one of my most controversial images when it was posted on Facebook to promote Steelseries donating a percentage of head set sales to breast cancer awareness during breast cancer awareness month. Although the image was not taken originally for that promotion, the headphones are hard to miss and I was very enthusiastic that the images could coincidentally be used to promote a good cause. In any case a few people posted quite a bit of feedback on this image, I guess I would rather people talk about the pictures I take than not. Regardless, I really liked how this image turned out and Anna really hammed it up while we were taking the shot, which I think comes through in the final piece.
Animal hats? So I had a totally different concept for this shot when I was first conceiving it, but this is what happens when you work with someone like Anna, who brings a lot to the shoot. Anna has such a playful energy that this image totally works.
